The educational requirements for nursing have changed so drastically that professionals working in the field need to return to universities to further their education. Historically, nurses could find profitable careers with as little as an associate’s degree. In recent years, employers have changed their standards, requiring applicants to have at least a bachelor’s degree to be considered for some positions. South Carolina has met this change by providing RN to BSN programs for those currently in the field.Opportunities with an RN to BSN Program
Taking part in these programs will provide nurses with the opportunity of learning more about the science of nursing and the implementation of new techniques. With the additional knowledge that is gained through these programs, nurses are more than able to pursue the job of their dreams without fear of not having enough qualifications.South Carolina Nursing Licensure Reciprocity
The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) allows nurses to have one license for nursing that gives them the ability to practice in the state where they current live as well as other states that are part of the compact agreement. Currently there are over 30 states that are a part of the NLC agreement.
As of Spring 2020: South Carolina IS part of the NLC agreement. This means that the RN licensure in South Carolina can transfer to the other states that are a part of the NLC agreement (reciprocity).
